Our Story
Eclipse Ball began in our front yard over 30 years ago with wooden tennis racquets and a supermarket playball. Friends would drive 40 miles and more for "Eclipse Ball" night, often parking their cars around the court and turnon their headlights to continue the game after dark!
From our front yard to schools and organization all over the USA and many foreign countries, we have been sharing our coed team sports and sole propriety products for over 20 years. It has been our joy to create and share games that levels the playing field in order for participants of all ages, shapes and sizes can be viable players, join in and have fun.
Being active is easy when you are having fun!
Eclipse Ball is a racquet and ball sport that was created in the heart of America. Eclipse Ball began in 1988. The idea for a black and white ball came from a grandfather, who was a baseball player in the early 1900’s. In those days, the pitcher might try an old trick and smear black on part of the ball. This gave the pitched ball a corkscrewing appearance as it went spinning through the air, and quite often, confused the batter just enough to make him miss. The white ball with a black patch creates a unique visual effect when flipping through the air. Both aggressive and non-aggressive players work well together in this game. A light touch is as important to the strategy of winning as a fiercely hit return.
Eclipse Ball was designed to have the camaraderie of volleyball, the spontaneity of badminton, and the excitement of tennis, with rules designed with fun and action in mind. The fundamental ideas behind Eclipse Ball are a desire for a game with vigorous volleys that aren't terminated easily and a second chance that can extend these delirious volleys even more.
